Carl Gilliland, a charter member of The Rotary Club of Allen and a past President of the club, passed away on January 18, 2023 at the age of 82. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

Carl R. Gilliland of Plano, Texas passed away January 18, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born on May 29, 1940 to Homer Marcus Gilliland and Ruth Earlene (Jackson) Gilliland in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Carl was a 1963 graduate of Mississippi State University. He married Mary M. Palmore on January 12, 1963 in Aliceville, Alabama. Carl had a long-esteemed career as an insurance agent and owner of Carl R. Gilliland Insurance Agency in Allen. He operated his agency from 1971 until his retirement in 2003. Carl was also a charter member of The Rotary Club of Allen and a past President of The Rotary Club of Allen. He was of the Methodist faith. Carl was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his caring and giving spirit and missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Mary M. Gilliland of Plano, Texas; daughter, GiGi Call of Plano, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Carl R. Gilliland, Jr.; parents, Homer and Ruth Gilliland; infant sister, Sonja Gilliland and infant brother, Billy Gilliland.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
