As of July 1, our club flag program has moved to a new phase. All flag routes are now owned by our club, significantly increasing the fundraising revenue from this program. Eleven club members put out and picked up flags for the July 4 holiday and our hope is more of our members will participate during the Labor Day holiday. The efforts of Fundraising Committee Chair Louise Master to manage the flag program are very much appreciated.
The new board of directors held its first meeting on July 31 and approved this year’s budget as well as our club’s goals for 2019-2020. These goals will be shared with club membership during upcoming meetings.
The first club service project of the Rotary year is underway. Service Project Committee Chair Randy Sandifer is heading up an effort to provide cans of Spaghettios and soup in pop-top cans for the ACO summer lunch program. Members have been requested to purchase a case of either product and deliver it to ACO or Randy’s office at 201A West Main St.
District 5810 Governor Beverly Grogan will be visiting our club during the regular meeting on August 14. She will be sharing with us the major initiatives planned this year for our district as well as for Rotary International. This will be an informative presentation that you won’t want to miss.
Tamika Washington purchased 50 magnetic backed Rotary pins for presenting to new members during their induction into our club. These pins are larger than the previous pins we’ve given new members and don’t put holes in your clothing. If you would like one of these pins, you can purchase it from Tamika for $3.
