Alternate for Fundraising Participation – Historically, we have had several members who have been unable to participate in club fundraisers. The board of directors recently approved the alternate of donating $200 to the club if a member is unable to participate in one of our fundraisers. This will help us achieve a club objective of maximizing the number of members who annually participate in fundraising.
Concession Stand Fundraiser – One of the club’s major fundraisers, staffing an AHS stadium concession stand, is scheduled for October 18. We will be responsible for providing 25 volunteers to staff Concession B, historically the most profitable. If you’re not already signed up, please contact Tim Carroll.
Donation Plate Designation – The board of directors has approved contributing the donation plate proceeds for July, August and September to ShelterBox. ShelterBox currently has volunteers on the ground in the Bahamas to help provide relief following Hurricane Dorian.
Membership Committee Initiative – During our September 25 club meeting, Membership Committee Chair Tamika Washington presented the committee’s plan to achieve a goal of adding five new members during this Rotary year. A key component of the plan is for each member to invite three prospective members to a club meeting between now and the end of December. Tamika will provide additional information in an email to club members.
District 5810 Interact Summit – Our club, along with the Sunrise Club, sponsored 15 AHS high school students and three adults to attend a District 5810 Interact Summit at Plano Senior high school on September 21. Kathy Litinas, our club’s Interact coordinator, will share the highlights of the summit at an upcoming meeting.
October Social – We will NOT have a club meeting on October 30 (fifth Wednesday) and instead will have a club social that evening between 5 and 7 pm at the new Lazy Dog restaurant. Appetizers will be provided. Please plan to attend and get to know your fellow Rotarians in a setting outside of a club meeting.
