Welcome to the President’s Notes:
Rotary October Theme-
Economic & Community Development
We encourage you to find a way to donate your time and talents to promote Economic and Community Development.
October Meetings
Good news, we will resume monthly meetings in the month of October. We will continue to host our club meetings virtually via Zoom Enterprise Video Applications. The meeting time will remain at 12pm on Wednesdays. Our next meeting is on October 7, 2020 with Coach Terry Gambill of the Allen Eagles as the program for the day. We will continue meeting virtually through December 2020.
We are continuing to do our best to make our meetings more interactive; therefore, if you have any suggestions feel free to email Tamika Washington your idea at
tlwashin@washenterprise.com.
Flags Program Update
Our flag team has been instrumental with assisting local citizens to display their patriotism by displaying the beautiful American flag at their homes and/or businesses. The next flag holiday is Veterans Day. If you or someone you know is interested in participating in the flag program and/or would like a flag displayed at your home or business on Labor Day, please contact Louise at

Shelter Box HERO
Congratulations Allen Rotary Club on receiving ShelterBox HERO recognition for Rotary Year 2019-2020. Our club is listed on our HERO page
www.shelterboxusa.org/hero. Your contributions have contributed to 1.6 million people being sheltered since 2000. ShelterBox could not have reached them without clubs like ours. COVID 19 has not stopped ShelterBox’s efforts, your help has provided aid to over 87,000 people so far in 2020.
Thank you for being a ShelterBox HERO!
Shoe Drive Service Project
The Allen Rotary Club will continue to collect shoes as our service project for the month of October. The Allen High School Interact Club and Allen Rotary Club will partner to donate gently used shoes to support Plano Douglas Community. This is an opportunity to clean out your closet and donate the gently used shoes. Now through Oct 25, we will be collecting shoes – new or old - to help our Interact Club with their shoe drive. If the Interact Club collects enough pairs of shoes, they can earn a citation from District. Search your closets, stop by a store or go on-line when you get home and find us some shoes.
Drop off location is Kathy Litinas’ house at 306 Cordova Drive Allen, TX 75013.
World Polio Day
October 24th is World Polio Day.
Every year, Rotarians and Rotaractors across the globe mobilize for
World Polio Day to raise awareness about eradicating polio for good. If we stay committed, polio will be the second human disease ever to be eradicated. Learn more about World Polio Day and fundraisers
