Community Grants – The window has closed for submitting community grant applications this year.  Jonathan Boyd is now reviewing the applications and will recommend the community grant recipients to the board of directors on March 18.  Following board approval, each grant recipient organization will be notified of its approved grant. 

ShelterBox Donation – At the beginning of this Rotary year, the board of directors earmarked the proceeds of the weekly charity bucket toward outfitting a complete ShelterBox at a cost of $1,000.  This goal was achieved during the February 26 club meeting.  Plans are to award a $1,000 check to Bruce Heller, representing ShelterBox, during our March 4 club meeting.  Special thanks to all of the members who have contributed to the charity bucket during the last eight months to make this important donation possible.  

Four-Way Test Speech Competition – The four-way speech competition this year is being coordinated by Susan Bernard and is scheduled for our April 1 club meeting.  Please contact Susan if you are willing to serve as a judge.

Newest Club Member – Nelson Hewitt was invited to join the Rotary Club of Allen on February 19.  Nelson was previously a member of the Frisco and Prosper Rotary clubs.  Membership Committee Chair Tamika Washington will be conducting Nelson’s induction into the club in the near future.  Welcome aboard Nelson.

Foundation for Allen Schools Scholarships – The Rotary Club of Allen will be awarding seven college scholarships to Allen High School seniors during the Foundation Scholarship Reception on Monday April 27.  If you are interested in attending this reception to represent our club, please contact Regina Taylor.
