President’s Notes
May Rotary Theme- Youth Service
The Rotary Club of Allen does great things for the youth in our community. The month of May is dedicated to Youth Service which is a perfect time to reach out to our community and get involved with youth programs. You can start right at home like our own club member, Shirley Mangrum, did with her grandchildren. Shirley is teaching her grands the value of helping others by providing service. Thank you to Tom & Sharon Brian (Send Hope) for bring the Kids Against Hunger service project to our club allowing opportunities for our members to serve and include our families and friends.
Scholarship Awards-
The Allen Rotary Club successfully awarded 7 scholarships this year to very deserving Allen High School Seniors. The award recipients were greeted by members of the Allen Rotary Club (Tyler Holcolm, Jonathan Boyd, Tony Washington & Tamika Washington) as they exited the auditorium to meet their donors. The award recipients of the Rotary Club of Allen Scholarships were awarded $500 each. The 2021 Scholarship Recipients were Benjamin Jameson, Eleftheria Kuehn, Sydney Nogaj, Sharaf Rashid, and Emma Siddiqui

May Rotary Club Meetings
We are getting closer to resuming in person meetings, but for now we will continue to meet via Zoom. The Allen Rotary Club will continue to host our club meetings virtually via Zoom Enterprise Video Applications. The meeting time will remain at 12:00pm on Wednesdays. We will continue meeting virtually through June 2021. We plan to resume meeting in person in July 2021.
District-Wide Service Project Success
Thank you to everyone who donated and participated in this year District-Wide Service Project. We exceeded our goal to assemble 1000 hygiene kits for the homeless, veterans and families. Your generous donations of hygiene products helped our club and district meet a service goal while helping the community. We appreciate everyone who participated in the service project.
