Celebrating A Wild Polio-Free Africa
Rotary members have played an invaluable role in the effort to rid the African region of wild polio. We should be proud of all the hard work that we’ve done to eliminate the wild poliovirus throughout Africa and in nearly every country in the world. Read more about Africa being eradicated of Polio at https://rotary5810.org/stories/african-region-declared-polio-free/

September Meetings
We will continue to meet virtually as the world is continues to battle COVID 19. The good news is we may be closer to meeting in person again. For the month of September, we will continue to host our club meetings virtually via Zoom Enterprise Video Applications.  The meeting time will remain at 12pm on Wednesdays. Our next meeting is on September 2nd followed by a visit from our District Governor, John Moser, on September 23rd. We are continuing to do our best to make our meetings more interactive; therefore, if you have any suggestions feel free to email Tamika Washington your idea at tlwashin@washenterprise.com.

Shoe Drive Service Project
The Allen Rotary Club has a new service project for the month of September.  The Allen High School Interact Club and Allen Rotary Club will partner to donate gently used shoes to support Plano Douglas Community.  This is an opportunity to clean out your closet and donate the gently used  shoes. We will provide additional details which includes the drop location(s), pick up times, etc. over the next week. https://planowestrotary.com/event/collecting-gently-used-shoes-for-micro-businesses-1/

Flags Program Update

We are approaching another flag holiday, Labor Day. Our flag team has been instrumental with assisting local citizens to display their patriotism by displaying the beautiful American flag at their homes and/or businesses. The flag program continues to be  an important source of revenue for our  club as we are limited due to COVID 19  If you or someone you know is interested in participating in the flag program and/or would like a flag displayed at your home or business on Labor Day, please contact Louise at lmaster720@sbcglobal.net
