July In-Person Mtgs Cancelled / Online Mtg July 22

In response to a community-wide effort to limit exposure of the COVID-19 virus; many local meetings and gatherings have been cancelled.  Therefore, the Allen Rotary Club has also cancelled meetings scheduled for July 2020.  The club is next meeting online through Zoom on Wednesday July 22 at 12 noon.  Please watch our website for updates.

Camp RYLA Cancelled For 2020

Like many other summer activities, Camp RYLA has been cancelled for 2020.  Our noon club and the Allen Sunrise Club were planning to sponsor two students each for this year's camp. We hope to invite them to a meeting and recognize them for being selected.

FLAG PROGRAM: Show Your Colors and Support Rotary

The Rotary Club of Allen invites you to join your friends and neighbors in Allen, Texas in displaying the U.S. flag on seven designated holidays. The Flag Lease Program is the primary fund raiser for the Rotary Club of Allen and with those funds, we provide health, humanitarian, and youth service programs throughout our community, nation and the world. We purchase the flags, display, store, and maintain them—it is all done for you. The flags are the property of the Rotary Club of Allen.

Meeting Location

The Rotary Club of Allen meets at the First United Methodist Church of Allen.  The church is located at 601 South Greenville Avenue, Allen, TX 75002.  The club meets in the Fellowship Hall which can be entered from the parking lot by the long green awning.

New Officers Take Office

Eleven members assumed their roles as club officers for the 2019-2020 Rotary year.
 
Ken Chute is the new club president and Susan Bernard is serving as past-president.  The president-elect is  Tamika Washington.  Other officers include Tyler Holcom, secretary; Neil Fonville, treasurer; John Maria, Sergeant-At-Arms; Debbie Stout, club administration; Tim Carroll, public relations; Jonathan Boyd, Rotary Foundation; Randy Sandifer, service projects; and Louise Master, fundraising.  The new board was installed at the club luncheon on June 26.
 
Special thanks to Susan Bernard, who served as president this past year and her board that included many new officers.  Two retiring board members included Danny Boyce and Todd Harris.

Chip Snyder has been inducted as a member into the club.  Chip was previously a member and club officer of the Allen Noon Club.  He is retired from the Color Dynamics Corporation in Allen and lives in Plano.  Welcome back Chip!

Community Grants Awarded For 2018

Recipients were recently announced for the 2018 Rotary Club of Allen Community Grant Program.  Community Grants are intended to financially assist nonprofit organizations with specific programs that support quality of life, health improvement, education and poverty alleviation.
 
Community grants of $2,000 each were awarded to The Washington Foundation (Lil Jacob Learning Center); Allen Philharmonic (Concerts for Yiung Audiences); and Change the World (Various community projects).  Thank you to all who applied.
