Entries Sought For 2025 Rotary Christmas ParadeRegistration is now closed for the 2025 Allen Rotary Christmas Parade. Please come out and enjoy the parade this Sh day at 2 pm. The parade, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Allen Sunrise and Rotary Club of Allen (Noon), will be held on Sunday December 7, starting at 2 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “All Star Christmas” The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is the Allen Sports Association The parade route will begin at North Cedar Drive and St. Mary’s Drive and proceed south to the Main Street. The parade will head west on Main to Allen Drive and then north on Allen Drive to the traffic circle at St. Mary’s Drive. New Meeting Location: Chicken N PickleBeginning in July 2025, the club will meet at the Chicken N Pickle Restaurant and Sports Facility in Allen. The first meeting at the new location will be Wednesday, July 9. The club will not meet on June 25 and July 2. Meetings will continue to be held from 12 noon - 1 p.m. The Chicken N PIckle is located at 1221 Johnson Road just north of the intersection of Alma Road and State Highway 121. Club Mourns Loss of Carl Gilliland - Charter MemberCarl Gilliland, a charter member of The Rotary Club of Allen and a past President of the club, passed away on January 18, 2023 at the age of 82. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Entries Sought For Rotary Christmas ParadeRegistration is now open for the 2022 Allen Rotary Christmas Parade. The parade, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Allen Sunrise and Rotary Club of Allen (Noon), will be held on Sunday December 4, starting at 2 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “Home for the Holidays.” (See links below for entry rules and entry forms) Local youth groups, schools, churches, businesses, and community organizations are welcome to march or enter a float in this year’s parade. Entry fees are $40 for non-profit organizations and $50 for commercial businesses through November 10. Entry fees increase by $10 on November 11 with the final entry deadline on Monday November 28 at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the parade fund charitable Rotary projects in the Allen community. Registration and payments can be done online or downloaded. Entry forms are available online at the Allen Rotary Club (www.allenrotary.org) or the Allen Sunrise Rotary Club (www.allensunriserotary.com) websites. The completed forms should be delivered or mailed with payment to the Allen - Fairview Chamber of Commerce, 110 W. McDermott Drive, Allen, Texas 75002 (972) 727-5585. Forms will be accepted in person Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM. You should receive a confirmation email once your registration is received. Camp RYLA Scholarships Open To Allen JuniorsAPPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 21ST Allen High School juniors may now apply to attend the 2022 Camp RYLA Leadership Camp. The scholarship camp will be held on May 29 – June 3, 2022. The Allen Rotary Club and the Sunrise Club of Allen each sponsor two campers for the annual leadership camp, which is held at Camp Hoblezel in Midlothian. Interested high school juniors are encouraged to review the RYLA Leadership Camp brochure and then complete a RYLA Application. The camp is open to all Allen juniors. Applications should be returned by email to Tim Carroll, or Kelly Juntunen in the Allen High School Main Office. Due to the pandemic, camp was cancelled for the summer of 2021 and the four camp scholarship recipients were able to participate in an online leadership program. The 4-day camp will be held in May and June 2022 with additional safety precautions that are explained in the camp brochure. Interviews for the four scholarship positions will be held in late March. |

Rep. Candy Noble to Visit ClubTexas State Representative Candy Noble will be our special program opening up the new year on Wednesday, January 5 at noon. Noble is in her second term in the Texas House of Representatives. Her committee assignments for the 87th Legislative Session include the House Committees on Human Services, Ways & Means, and Resolutions Calendars.
Representative Noble also serves as the Republican Caucus Secretary and serves on the Board of the Texas Conservative Coalition. |

2021 Christmas Parade Float AwardsThanks again to all of the sponsors and volunteers who made the 2021 Rotary Christmas Parade a success. Unofficially, it was the largest parade crowd we have had in years. Officially, our club benefitted with over $4,300 in sponsorship revenue. Thanks to Regina Taylor for coordinating the parade and making it a memorable one for the families and especially children in Allen. Concessions Raise Over $2,500Thanks to all the volunteers who helped raise money through the Eagle Stadium concession stand on October 22. Not only did members show up in force but they brought family members along to help pop popcorn, wrap hot dogs and serve hundreds (maybe thousands) of soft drinks. The concession stand showed over $25,000 in revenue meaning that the Rotary Club(s) earned a total of $2,545.66 Based on the number of volunteers, the noon club earned $1,934 and the Sunrise Club earned $610. That was about $100 per volunteer. GREAT JOB everyone.

Luncheon and Christmas Concert Dec 1stThe club will meet at the Allen High School restaurant Blu' for lunch on December 1st. Following lunch they will be entertained by a short Christmas music concert from the Allen High School Show Choir. There will be no meeting at FUMC Allen on December 1st. The lunch is included in your regular fees. Guests are welcome for $15 per person. All members planning to attend need to make a reservation with Tim Carroll before December 1st. Bring your spouse or friend for this special club tradition. Look for an email to make your reservation.

Club Meetings To Continue Virtually Through JuneClub meetings will continue to be held weekly on Zoom for the next three months. Due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, we will meet virtually by Zoom through June, 2021. Meetings will begin at noon each week with three exceptions. There will be no regular meeting on Wednesday June 30. Guests interested in visiting one of the virtual meetings should contact the membership chair listed on the club officer page. Monthly (and socially-distanced) activities are being planned and announced to members through email.

New Officers Take OfficeEleven members assumed their roles as club officers for the 2019-2020 Rotary year. Ken Chute is the new club president and Susan Bernard is serving as past-president. The president-elect is Tamika Washington. Other officers include Tyler Holcom, secretary; Neil Fonville, treasurer; John Maria, Sergeant-At-Arms; Debbie Stout, club administration; Tim Carroll, public relations; Jonathan Boyd, Rotary Foundation; Randy Sandifer, service projects; and Louise Master, fundraising. The new board was installed at the club luncheon on June 26. Special thanks to Susan Bernard, who served as president this past year and her board that included many new officers. Two retiring board members included Danny Boyce and Todd Harris.

AHS Juniors Selected For RYLA Leadership CampFour Allen High School juniors have been chosen to attend the 2019 Camp RYLA Leadership Camp. The scholarship camp will be held on July 28 - August 2. The club will sponsor two students and the Allen Sunrise Rotary Club will sponsor the other two students. This year's camp attendees include: Ritika Bhala, Jenna Lowenberg, Alyssa Holloway and Angelina Johnson.
